The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, founded
in 1946, is dedicated to training future veterinarians, providing
services to animal owners and veterinarians, and conducting
investigations to improve the health of animals as well as people.
The college benefits pets and their owners, food-producing animals,
and wildlife by offering the highest quality hospital and
diagnostic laboratory services. Equipped with the most
technologically advanced facilities located on a university campus,
the college is dedicated to safeguarding public health by studying
emerging infectious diseases that affect both animal and human
health.

Position Summary
The Department of Population Health of the University of Georgia's
College of Veterinary Medicine encompasses a diverse workforce that
is dedicated to the betterment of animal health and welfare in
support of wildlife populations, laboratory animals, and a
sustainable and economically viable food supply. The Department of
Population Health encompasses the Poultry Diagnostic and Research
Center, Food and Animal Health and Management Program, Southeastern
Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study and Laboratory Animal Medicine
Program.
The Department, which is forward-thinking, growing, varied in
interests and membership, seeks a visionary and energetic leader,
who is an experienced and accomplished academician and educator to
serve as its next Department Head. The successful candidate will be
responsible for all aspects of the department's academic missions
in instruction, research and clinical service, including hiring of
departmental faculty and staff, promoting the success and career
progression of faculty, staff and students, and management of the
department's fiscal resources and facilities in compliance with all
applicable regulations and policies.
Additional Requirements
Required qualifications are the DVM (or equivalent), or PhD, and
accomplishments to qualify for hire at the rank of tenured
Professor. Demonstrable success in budgetary and administrative
management are required.

Certification
Preferred qualifications include one or more the following: an
advanced graduate degree (MS or PhD), board certification in an
appropriate veterinary specialty, or evidence of the study of
animal populations.

The successful candidate will have a strong record of achievement
in scholarly work and professional or graduate education and
evidence of effective leadership and communication skills and
dedication to veterinary and graduate student education.
